Why such a big uproar over the ICE raids?

Weren't they arresting criminals (read: people in this country illegally)? Isn't it the job of law enforcement to actually ENFORCE the laws? So, ICE arrests thousands of criminals, and they get nothing but a lot of negative press about being inhumane and uncaring. The bottom line is that if you are in this country illegally, you are a criminal, and shold be expected to be treated like one. The one basic right a criminal has is to be arrested and held accountable for their crime.

  1. If only everyone looked at it the same way!
  2. Yes, they are breaking the law, but I wouldn't call that being a criminal for several reasons. Think about it. They're not here - or at least most of them aren't here - to do criminal acts but to survive or help support their families. And if they are criminals for doing that, then anyone who has ever speeded in their car, drove while drunk, cheated on their taxes, hit their wife or husband, stole something from a store, stole from your employer, got into a fight, made prank calls, skinny dipped or streaked, or stole a car for a joyride when a teenager is a CRIMINAL, too. It's the scale of the offense which is pointless and heartless here. Do we really want to look more like Nazi Germany than we already do?
  3. I do think that the number of illegal immigrants grew to be as big as it is, mainly because many government officials simply didn't do their jobs. One of the most essential responsibilities of any legitimate government is "TO PROTECT AND ENSURE THE RIGHTS AND WELL-BEING OF IT'S OWN CITIZENS". For any of the legislators or govenment officials to be advocating the human rights of illegal immigrants and calling themselves "compassionate", "humanitarian", is the biggest lie. In fact, these self-claimed "compassionates" are directly helping the greedy corporates to keep alive the never ending exploitation of these illegal immigrants. They keep saying that these people are only here to get a better life. But by the cold fact that the big companies won't even pay them minimum wages and any of the basic benefits american workers used to get , we can see how long and hard the road to these illegal immigrant's "better life" will be.
  4. Are you referring to the recent raids on the meat packing plants in seven states? I wholeheartedly agree with you, it was funny to see the protesters yelling "they just want to work" I was thinking 'yeah, they illegally crossed the border (criminal act #1), and stole peoples identities so they could work (criminal act #2), so who knows what other laws they have broken'. I think ICE should have the right to question and check into the background of all the protesting families that were out that day screaming at them, I'll bet more than half we here illegally along with the workers.
  5. AMEN! Only racists from LA RAZA, MENCHA, LULAC, and/Or EL EME would have a problem with enforcement of the immigration law because it ruins their evil plans for this country.
