What are 3 causes for why the american people reacted to natalie maines comment?

The Dixie Chicks lead vocalist, Natalie Maines made a comment towards America's President Bush stating "I am ashamed that Bush is from Texas" which led a huge uproar among americans. Can you list 3 plausible causes why the americans reacted the way they did? The only one I can think of is that Americans had a huge sense of pride during the time since the comment was made a year after 9/11 occured.

Public Comments

  1. ITS DISGUSTING AND DISRESPECTFUL OF OUR TOP MAN!!
  2. So?.... I am ashamed that I voted for him... he is a disgrace... both of them for that matter... not as bad as Carter who is the worst so far.... only the obamination will be worse should enogh people go totaly insane and vote for him...
  3. Number one: There are still people who support Bush (including his family and friends). Number two: People might be ashamed since he did not do what they thought he would do when they voted for him. Number three: the pride of Americans who felt right in voting for him are mad at her for insulting him.
  4. Well, from a non american point of view, I think there is absolutely NO plausible reason they got as upset as they did. Bush has made a mockery of the US to the rest of the free world.
  5. First, she was on foreign soil. Second, who the hell is she? Nobody. Third, her job is to entertain, that's what the fans paid for, not her political view. Amercians overall are fed up with celebrities injecting themselves into politics where most of the time, they have no real knowledge of what they are talking about and they don't deal with the same struggles most Americans do.
  6. I don't know. I'm from Texas too but I didn't get offended when she said what she did. Maybe they got mad because folks would automatically presume that because he's from Texas, everybody from Texas is as stupid as he is. But people think that anyway about Texans, so whatever. I know I didn't vote for his dumb behind, not for governor, not either time for president. "Fool me once, shame on...shame on you. A fool me can't get fooled again." Apparently, they can.
