Would there be an uproar if the media started calling Obama our first half white president?
I voted for and support obama, however i am tired of hearing every other sentence our first African American president...He is our first bi-racial president....Why does the media forget his mother (white) had him?
Public Comments
- Its true but why would they bother.
- Get real. In this country (USA), bi-racial people nearly always belong to the black community. Think of mixed-race people you know, and see if you can find any exceptions.
- yes because all presidents before Obama were at least that (half white)
- about the only time you hear the words african american anywhere,it's the African americans saying it most of the rest of us don't even think about it,or call ourselves indian americans or english americans,or what ever,we were all descended from somewhere but since we were born in america i think we are all americans not what ever color we happen to be,the media has to keep the story going,,that's their job
- Let me help you all... They say Black because the only thing that separates us racially is the color of our skin. (Sad but true.) Look at it this way. If Obama walked into a KKK rally in a remote area of the south with no witnesses in the 1950's. Would they care if his mother was white? If they saw him at that moment, would they say: "Hey there Boy... You're okay. You look like you have some Aryan in you. Come on and help us light this cross on fire..." By the way. Technically, he is literally African-American. His fathers is African (Kenya) and his mother was American (Idaho). So calling him African-American is more accurate than you think.
- He identifies himself as black. That should be all anyone else needs to hear. Saying he is African-American is not inaccurate. His background is half African and half white American.
- That would actually be funny. But it sounds better, and gets more of a reaction out of America and the rest of the world, to call him our first African American president.
