im gonna start a local uproar in my town, i would like come opinions?

there is a painting done by some crazy guy 20 years ago in the downtown of where i live.its become an icon of the city and part of the pseudo liberal culture here.a business once tried to get rid of it,but the locals took to the streets with their pachuli smelling sasses and pickets threatening to boycott it.im gonna paint over it,and if i get caught,become famous as the villan.

3. Wouldn't you rather be famous for creating your own work of art, that's far more creative than just painting over something? Some sort of stencil/banksy-esque kind of thing?
4. You have got some serious mental problem. You just want to paint over it to get attention. I think you want to get caught to become popular even if its in a bad way. All of your question screams attention seeking behavior. Go get yourself checked from a doctor and get a life.
5. This sounds like a felony waiting to happen---which can haunt you for life. What about starting a petition? Take it to a town hall meeting. You can't be the only one in town who dislikes it.

7. Before you do, please tell me the name of your town. I am an artist and after you are tossed in jail and fined to pay for replacement of the mural, I would like to redo it. Don't worry my murals are only in the range of 20K to 55K dependent upon the size. You should be able to pick up a job at Burger King for a few decades to pay that off easily.
8. It seems rather important to others, people have fought to keep their right to keep it, and you're totally unaffected and you just want to take it away? That sucks dude. Do you know how impossible it is for most people to have any control over their city? To have any part of the people who live in it shown? In my city it's a constant battle between people who do some really cool art and the city who thinks all public property should be uniform, and show no sign of the people in it when they aren't on the street. You seriously can't appreciate that? Some people are sick of having local state and federal government telling them how to live, and where they are allowed to do it, and how they are going to express themselves... you have a little bit of extra room, which people around you fought for, and you want to get rid of it... you aren't going to be a villian dude, first of all you'll be doing what most local government would have done, and the one time it's permitted, some guy takes it upon himself to erase it anyway? You're going to be thought of as a spoiled bored kid who doesn't have any respect or understanding for the total lack of respect or importance the individual is beginning to have. Also, anybody can destroy stuff, woo hoo, that takes mobility and an ape could do it, nobody will respect or hate you for that... they'll just be disgusted and depressed about it. It takes a brave person to make something... not to ruin something someone else put energy into, and a whole community fought to mantain. If you do that, you are going to be doing what every city does ... maybe you should be in law enforcement... that's just boring and sad, I hope you don't.
9. Dude, relax. How bad can the painting be? If your town is that small to where a simple painting matters, maybe you should think about relocating....good luck!
